Android division of Google is preparing to launch an online music listening rival service Spotify this week, said Tuesday the Wall Street Journal reported on its website, citing sources familiar with the matter.
Mysteries of the Google I / O conference
Google could make the announcement Wednesday at its annual conference for software programmers, Google I / O, the sources said, that Google has already signed distribution agreements with Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment and Warner Music Group to give unlimited access to some catalogs of music against payment.
Google already had a music service launched in 2011, Google Play, but it is more likened to an online store content on the Apple iTunes model, and users buying songs and albums by downloading in their library. The new service will give unlimited access to the songs available flow against a monthly subscription unlike a purchase card. No spokesperson for Google was not immediately available for comment.
