New Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S 2013: all power! - TF1

More powerful Porsche 911 Turbo 991 types improve their performance, but do not forget efficiency.

6th generation
Designed in the mid-70s, in prototype at the IAA 1973 and unveiled at Paris in 1974, the first 911 Turbo served first showcase of new cars competition turbo engine and approval model. Except that the success defeated limiting production to 500 copies, and this has become a 911 Turbo apart in the range.


While GT3 and GT2 versions retain their air units, the 911 retains scripts Turbo since 1974 , or rather its Turbo since declined in 1990 (964 generation) in 320 and 360 hp versions. They took the names Turbo and Turbo S to the next generation (Type 993) in 1995 with respective powers of 408 and 450 hp. Follow the type 996 (420/450 hp) in 2000 and Type 997 (480/530 hp) in 2006.

For 40 years the Porsche 911 Turbo does not change the recipe, with a style more muscular than Carrera and GT3 . Recognizable with side vents, the Turbo also displays specific side skirts, 20-inch wheels, air intakes extended to the front, a rear spoiler always discreet and two pairs of tailpipes. The Turbo S is characterized by the fine amounts mirrors and front spoiler.


dimensions, Turbo 991 type is 10 cm longer than the previous generation, as heavy (1.570/1.605 kg) and has an all-new chassis and an AWD system “PTM” expected to improve traction to the front wheels when needed. The anti-roll PDCC is even part of the optional, but standard on the S. For the most demanding, the Sport Plus package adds carbon-ceramic brakes and improves performance.


Inside, the leather upholstery is specific, the Bose sound system is standard, and the client will hunt in the many options for comfort.


From power Let
therefore the heart of the beast, the engine. The flat-six 3.8-liter team of two turbochargers with variable geometry, combined with the 7-speed PDK transmission. Turbo version climbs to 520 hp (20) at 6500 rev / min and 710 Nm (50), while the Turbo S jumps to 560 hp (30 ) at 6750 rev / min and 750 Nm (50).

performance, the Turbo accelerates from 0-100 km / h in 3.4 seconds (0.3 s and 3.2 s with pack), the 0-200 km / h in 11.1 seconds ( pack with 10.8 s), the maximum speed is 315 km / h (3). Turbo S improves the 0-100 km / h in 3.1 seconds (-0.1), the 0-200 km / h in 10.3 seconds and peak at 318 km / h maximum (3). Porsche confirms the same time at the Nurburgring Nordschleife in 7’30 “and therefore under the 7’32″ established by Walter Röhrl in 2010.


And despite this change in performance average consumption is reduced by approximately 16% , from 11.5 to 9.7 l/100 km. Thank you the start-stop! CO2 emissions are displayed to 227 g / km on average, against 270 g / km previously.


Sacred up
Finally, rates. Not surprisingly, they are rising, Turbo has a price of 163,919 euros, the Turbo S 197 288 euros , a respective bond of 12,000 and 25,000 euros

Orders are open as well, but marketing (and deliveries) will be effective in September 2013.
