Global Action on Privacy: 4000 sites studied - Univers Freebox

Under Internet Sweep Day the CNIL and the world’s leading authorities to protect the privacy of 18 countries (USA, Australia, Germany, UK) conducted a joint action on close . 4,000 sites to verify the information sent to users on the use of their personal data

France CNIL has screened nearly 250 websites on several points:

  • What data is collected on users
  • Are the data transmitted to third parties
  • Can they oppose the transfer to third parties?

In case of significant breach of the law, the CNIL reserves the right, in a second time to make thorough checks and, if necessary, to open disciplinary procedures.

Internet Sweep Day is a first in the collaboration between global authorities to personal data protection. Other common control operations are already under study for years to come.

We do not know yet the name of the sites covered by this control procedure.
