Nathalie Quirion, Rehabilitation Centre House says, however, that these situations of everyday life, taken the form of video clips in “A for Other” can be a challenge for people with autism.

She believes that the platform “A for other” help parents and stakeholders to explain to people with a spectrum disorder autism behavior preferred in these situations.

“It’s really a tool to be able to explain, to be able to reach out to both sides. Social skills, this is an element that is very wide, which is very vague, too, “she says.

          From theory to practice

It was after an internship as a master’s student in psycho Vanessa Ménard has developed the tool, which is designed for 6-17 years.

“They are developing, so we found it interesting to join them. Also, the video support, technological tools, we found that there were many people interested in it, “says the young woman.

Program graduates multimedia UQAT were solicited for this project.

The teacher psychoeducation Marie-Hélène Poulin, who oversaw the project, believes it makes innovative and opens many possibilities.

“If we think also, iPad, iPod, smart phones, these are all opportunities that interest us much. The side-university-business environment is very strong, very helpful for this kind of project there. ”
