RT Windows 8.1: Microsoft launch stumbles and removes the update ... - ZDNet

Technology: Two days after its release, Windows RT 8.1, the update 8.1 of the ARM version of the OS, had to be withdrawn because of problems reported by users. Microsoft has promised a quick return.

the ARM version of Windows 8 Windows RT, Microsoft encounter many difficulties, so that virtually no manufacturer offers a computer with this OS. If the publisher hoped to raise with the 8.1 Windows RT, it started rather badly.

Available for download from October 17, the application was withdrawn by Microsoft on October 19, found WinBeta.org. Presented as a temporary withdrawal, the time for the editor to solve some problems.

Updated RT 8.1 undetected

Asked by ZDNet, the company has remained vague on the withdrawal of a major release of Windows, a decision all but trivial. According to Microsoft, “a limited number of users” reported incidents during the upgrade to Windows RT RT 8.1.

Microsoft is anything but accurate. Mary Jo Foley of ZDNet.com has found it on October 17 from a Windows PC RT, the camera could not detect the update of the system and thus the upgrade to 8.1. Other users have testified to the same difficulty to start the update process.

Microsoft said it was working to resolve the problem as quickly as possible to reintroduce Windows RT 8.1 in the Windows Store.
