Piracy Orange: 800.000 customers of the operator concerned - ZDNet

Security: The hacking of 16 January which Orange was the target has resulted in the compromise of personal data of nearly 800,000 subscribers to Internet

Without specifying the scope, Orange admitted last week have been a hacker having resulted in the compromise of one of its databases and personal data of subscribers.

Sunday, Orange has finally recognized that this intrusion had affected the personal information of 800,000 of its Internet subscribers, representing 3% of its customers. “Orange was the target of a hacking January 16, 2014 from the ‘My Account’ from the Client Area Site orange.fr” said the operator in a letter to subscribers.

These data are mainly stolen names and mailing addresses for Orange customers. The company ensures that passwords have however not been compromised. This information could contribute to phishing campaigns targeting Orange Internet subscribers.
