SEOUL, Oct. 7 ( Yonhap) – “The rapid adoption of new technologies and new trends and the application of a consistent design that goes anywhere are the recipes for success of Korean applications in the world”, assessed Wednesday Larissa Fontaine, Director of ‘Google Play application development activity.

In a meeting with journalists that took place today at the headquarters of Google Korea in Seoul, Fountain presented applications that appeal to Korean market world.

According to Google, the Korean developers of applications stand out particularly in less influenced by language barriers fields such as education, customization and photography in foreign markets.

Among the successful Korean applications include Pinkfong (education) Wallpaper HD (personalization), Retrica (photo) and Polaris Office (office management solution).

Azar, an application of discovery friends through video chat developed by the South Korean HyperConnect Inc. and launched in November 2013 in countries of the Middle East and Central Asia, today enjoys a growing popularity in the world market . Over 90% of downloads of this application were made abroad. The number of downloads has exceeded the one million mark in March and monthly turnover has crossed the threshold of one billion won (861,000 dollars) last month. It was part of the Top 5 Google Play applications that generate the largest revenues in 12 countries worldwide.

The mobile game developed by Korean companies are also booming. Marvel Fight Future of Korean society Netmarble recorded 10 million downloads just two weeks after its release last April in 148 countries worldwide including the United States, Brazil, Mexico and Russia. It has been downloaded over 30 million times to date, and in 93% of cases abroad. “We have highlighted the Marvel characters that are familiar to foreign users and analyzed their tendencies to better tailor the game to their tastes and it worked,” noted an official from Netmarble. “We will target the global market by launching new games in the future,” he added.
